Nuggets Star Officially in Danger of Missing Game 3 vs. Clippers

The Denver Nuggets are headed into a pivotal Game 3 matchup on Thursday as they play their first road game of the NBA playoffs. The series is currently tied at 1-1 after the Los Angeles Clippers stole Game 2 in Denver, 105-102, thereby putting themselves in a great position to potentially take down the Nuggets in the first round.

Unfortunately for Denver, they were dealt some concerning news on Wednesday surrounding star forward Michael Porter Jr. The 26-year-old sustained a shoulder injury at the end of Game 2, which was later diagnosed as a mild left shoulder sprain.

Porter is now in danger of missing Game 3 after the Nuggets announced, via the official injury report, that the 6-foot-10 small forward is questionable to play on Thursday.

At this point, the Nuggets could be down one starter for Tuesday’s game, which puts them at a real disadvantage against the Clippers.

In Game 2, Porter turned in a monster 15-point, 15-rebound double-double, to go along with an assist, a steal and two triples in 33 minutes of action. There’s no denying that his presence on the floor will be missed if he ends up sitting out on Thursday.

The silver lining here is that there’s still a good chance Porter ends up playing in Game 3. The Nuggets have not ruled him out, and it’s looking like they will make their final decision closer to tip-off.

If Porter is unable to go, however, third-year forward Peyton Watson will likely be asked to fill the void.
