BREAKING: Nuggets Playoff Game Forces Pop Star to Cancel Show

The Denver Nuggets’ forthcoming matchup against the L.A. Clippers will compel a music superstar to continue her tour elsewhere.

Denver, which won the title in 2023, has had a bumpy road back to the promised land in the intervening seasons. The Nuggets let their top two bench pieces, guard Bruce Brown and forward Jeff Green, depart in free agency right after winning it all. Denver then fell to the Minnesota Timberwolves in a seven-game second-round series during last year’s playoffs.

Earlier this month, the Nuggets fired both general manager Calvin Booth and head coach Michael Malone with just a few days left in the regular season.

Interim head coach David Adelman helped Denver wrap up its 2024-25 season with a 50-32 record and the Western Conference’s No. 4 seed.

Three-time league MVP center Nikola Jokic has submitted a terrific season with limited consistent help, and is a finalist to win his fourth such honor in five seasons this year.

Unfortunately, the Nuggets’ reward for their solid finish was a first-round playoff date with the ascendant Clippers.

Forward Kawhi Leonard, a two-time Finals MVP, appears to have rediscovered the form that led him to six All-Star appearances, while 11-time All-Star James Harden and Clippers role players Ivica Zubac and Norman Powell have stepped up. The Clippers have the depth and length to bother the Nuggets, and could easily have built out a 2-0 series lead, despite playing both games in Denver.

With their 4-5 playoff series knotted at 1-1, a fifth game will need to be played in Denver’s Ball Arena.

That will necessitate a major change to Australian superstar Kylie Minogue’s ongoing North American tour (her first since 2011) — a rarity for the multiplatinum standout, whose best-known tracks stateside include “The Locomotion,” “Can’t Get You Out Of My Head,” and “Love At First Sight.”

Minogue had scheduled an April 29 show in Denver for her ongoing Tension tour. Unfortunately, the league announced that Game 5 would transpire that same night, per Tomer Azarly of ClutchPoints. The action is slated to tip off at 7 p.m. PT on TNT.

Minogue told fans on an Instagram Story that she had been “really looking forward to performing in Colorado for the first time.”

“I’m so sorry that we’re now unable to visit Denver on the Tension tour due to a scheduling conflict with the NBA playoffs,” Minogue said, per Joey Nolfi of Entertainment Weekly.

Presumably, given the stakes of this matchup for perhaps the greatest player alive, Colorado fans will forgive her.
