BREAKING: Nikola Jokic Facing Major Accusation From Nuggets-Thunder Game 1

May 6, 2025

Nikola Jokic led the charge for the Denver Nuggets as they stormed back from being 20 points down in Game 1 to steal away a thrilling 121-119 victory over the No. 1 seed Oklahoma City Thunder on Monday night.

Jokic went off for 42 points on 15-of-29 shooting, 22 rebounds, six assists, a steal, two blocks and two triples as the Nuggets went up 1-0 in this second-round NBA playoffs series.

The win did not come without controversy, though, with Jokic getting involved in a contentious moment during the hard-fought encounter. At one point in the fourth quarter, the three-time NBA MVP got called for a Flagrant 1 foul after landing a painful elbow to the head of Thunder forward Lu Dort.

Dort fell to the ground after Jokic hit the back of his head, which the game officials deemed as unnecessary contact from the Nuggets big man.

More than a few fans were not at all pleased with Jokic’s actions here, which led to some pretty blunt accusations on social media.

“Also Jokic is an amazing player but tonight I finally realized how dirty of a player he is,” a comment on X read.

“We gonna do this whole ‘dirty player’ thing for Jokić channeling his inner Ron Artest or does that only apply for Lu Dort?” asked another.

“jokic – dirty (expletive) player, foul baits worse than shai, has 7 turnovers, gets bailed out again by his teammates game winning shot. Not the MVP,” a user wrote.

“Jokic has a sneaky long dirty play résumé,” claimed a viewer.

“Jokic is the most undertalked about dirty player in the league,” accused another.

“Why doesn’t Jokic get called a dirty player ? He’s one of the most dirty players in the NBA lol,” a reaction read.

While he may be one of the most celebrated players in the NBA today, the fact of the matter is that there are a fair number of fans who do not like how he carries himself on the court.

Either way, Jokic will be back doing what he does come Game 2 on Wednesday.
