The Maya civilization, which flourished in what is now Mexico, Guatemala, Belize, Honduras, and El Salvador, reached its peak between 250 and 900 AD during the so-called Classic Period. The Maya were known for their impressive achievements in several fields, including mathematics, where they developed the concept of zero; astronomy, where they accurately predicted celestial phenomena; and architecture, with their construction of imposing pyramids, palaces, and ceremonial cemeteries. However, much of what we know about the Maya is comprised of ruins, hieroglyphics, and artifacts that were left behind, leading to deep debates and mysteries about their true identity.
