This fresco is not only an artistic work, but also a key for scientists to better understand the religion, culture and lifestyle in Pompeii. According to experts, the analysis of the elements of the painting can reveal a lot about the role of art in the society of that time.
The 2018 excavation project was part of a large-scale plan aimed at preserving and exploring unstudied areas of Pompeii. The fresco was found in a luxurious residence, which reveals the marked social stratification of the Pompeian community. Archaeologists used advanced technology to safely move and preserve the work.
