Brian Windhorst Shuts Down Recent Rumor About Nikola Jokic

Could the Denver Nuggets possibly trade Nikola Jokic?

Most people feel there is no chance of that happening, but Nuggets president Josh Kroenke raised a lot of eyebrows the other day when he said they could be forced to in the future if the team is devastated by injuries and paying too much in taxes.

Speaking on “Get Up,” Brian Windhorst eased the worries of troubled fans, saying there is very little chance the Nuggets will ever move Jokic.

He admitted that the team hasn’t performed like it wants to, and he blamed the second apron, which is hurting the Nuggets with a ton of taxes.

They don’t have the sort of financial flexibility needed to acquire more role players and talent to surround Jokic.

But that doesn’t mean they will ever trade their legendary big man.

They will pay whatever they have to and push through year after year of middling results, as long as they get to keep him.

However, there is still a chance that Jokic leaves Denver someday, but it won’t be the choice of the front office.

If he eventually grows tired of his team coming up short, he could demand a trade, and the Nuggets would likely respect that.

That would be one of the biggest shifts in the league, and it would cause nearly every single team to leap at the chance to sign him.

This comment from Kroenke probably wasn’t wise because it made a lot of Nuggets fans worried.

And Windhorst says they were worried for no reason because Jokic isn’t going anywhere.
