With their season on the line in Game 6 of the Western Conference semifinals against the Oklahoma City Thunder on Thursday, the Denver Nuggets responded and earned themselves at least one more game.
They won Game 6 by a final score of 119-107, and while they didn’t play their best game, they got strong performances from multiple players.
Nikola Jokic hit nine of his 14 shot attempts to score 29 points, to go along with 14 rebounds and eight assists. Jamal Murray had 25 points, eight rebounds and seven assists, while Christian Braun added 23 points, 11 boards and five assists.
In doing so, the three became the first trio to each have at least 20 points, eight rebounds and five dimes in an NBA playoff game since 1966.

Both Jokic and Murray, the Nuggets’ two main stars, have been up and down offensively in this series. Jokic had 42 points in Game 1 and 44 points in Game 5, but he shot a combined 21-of-63 in the three games in between those two stellar performances.
Murray, a player who historically increased his production by a wide margin in the playoffs, only had one game prior to Thursday in this series in which he played up to his standards.
But the two stepped up when their team needed them to on Thursday.
Denver won the NBA championship just two years ago, and it called upon that championship experience and grit to emerge victorious in Game 6. The winner of Game 7 on Sunday will move on to play the Minnesota Timberwolves in the Western Conference Finals.
Minnesota is the team that ended the Nuggets’ bid for back-to-back world titles last year by knocking them out of the second round of the playoffs.
