Aphrodite’s Head in Türkiye: Aizanoi’s Lost Beauty
In a series of recent excavations at the ancient city of Aizanoi, located in the Çavdarhisar district of Kütahya province in western Turkey, archaeologists have unearthed well-preserved heads of the goddess of love and beauty, Aphrodite, and deity of wine, Dionysus. Aizanoi, with a history dating back 5,000 years and recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2012, is a treasure trove of archaeological wonders.
