The 200 Million Year Old Stone Giant: Mystery in Patagonia

On August 12, 2023, an international team of geologists and archaeologists announced a stunning discovery in the Patagonia region of South America. A mountain range more than 30 kilometers long, with a shape strikingly similar to that of a lying giant, was identified through satellite images and high-resolution LIDAR scans. Analysis using uranium-thorium isotope dating indicates that the rock layers are approximately 200 million years old. At the time, the Patagonia region was part of the supercontinent Pangea, suggesting that the formation may have been influenced by tectonic events and erosion over millions of years.

The discovery has generated an intense debate among the scientific community, with three main hypotheses:

1. Natural phenomenon: Many geologists believe that the giant’s shape is the result of millions of years of erosion and tectonic activity. They argue that the arrangement of rocks and valleys could be an extraordinary natural coincidence.
2. Heritage of an ancient civilization: Some archaeologists suggest that the mountain range could have been modified by an unknown ancient culture. This theory is based on parallels with other ancient monumental structures, such as the Nazca Lines or the Moais of Easter Island.
