WARRIORS NIGHTMARE: Jonathan Kuminga Drops NUCLEAR BOMB Demand That Could DESTROY Golden State Dynasty
Golden State Warriors forward Jonathan Kuminga is seeking a contract worth over $30 million annually as he enters restricted free agency, according to league sources familiar with the negotiations.
The 22-year-old's contract demands would make him the third-highest paid player on the Warriors roster, behind only Stephen Curry ($59.6 million) and Jimmy Butler ($54.1 million) for the 2025-26 season.
Kuminga averaged 15.3 points, 4.6 rebounds, and 2.2 assists per game during the 2024-25 regular season while playing primarily in a reserve role. However, he elevated his performance during the playoffs, averaging 26.3 points on 51.9% shooting in the final three games of the Conference Semifinals against Minnesota.
The Warriors face a challenging decision as they balance retaining young talent with maintaining salary cap flexibility. As a restricted free agent, Golden State has the right to match any offer sheet Kuminga receives from other teams.
"I feel like I'm at the point where that has to be my priority, to just be one of the guys a team relies on," Kuminga said in a recent interview. "Aiming to be an All-Star. Multiple times."
Teams with significant cap space, including the Brooklyn Nets, could potentially make competitive offers for Kuminga's services, forcing the Warriors to decide whether to match or allow him to leave without compensation.
